I recall, a short while ago, reading an article by a prominent blogger and SEO expert about “mobile blogging”. He had a “blogging box” which allowed him to blog wherever he was (that i thought was a bit stupid and pretentious). It included an electronic camera, a laptop with a 3G modem, a notepad and pen, as well as other equipment. The whole lot pretty much fit in a suitcase.
Thankfully, important things have managed to move on a bit, so we have WordPress apps for iPhone/iPad and Android. Both apps have become compatible with an increase of or less recent versions of WordPress. That said, be sure to check which type of WordPress you’ll need to be running in order to access your dashboard via mobile.
Blogging vs Microblogging
Obviously, your main limitation when you use a mobile phone for blogging is the fact it is all totally a little bit much more of an irritation. You can not type as quicly, upload as many pictures, format also, or perform a few advanced things. That you can do almost everything you’ll need, however it is more cumbersome.
However, the way forward is clearly microblogging. By microblogging I don’t mean a twitter-esque update. I merely mean a bare-bones post, using a picture and a few commentary that you just considered as you were from the laptop plus a wi-fi connection.
What this allows you to do, amongst other activities, is live-blog events and items that happen. Should you spot something exciting, you’ll be able to require a photo or even a video from it and put it in your blog even before you get home. In case you are in the business of breaking news, this is often invaluable.
