Fundamental Understanding Of Carbide Burrs

Just what carbide burr
Carbide burrs are tools employed for deburring, cutting, shaping, grinding, and chamfering hard materials. Different cuts of carbide burrs is going to be ideal for several materials.

Carbide burrs are used in air tools like die grinders, pneumatic rotary tools and high-speed engravers, Micro Motors, Pendant Drills, Flexible Shafts, and hobby rotary tools.

Why use Carbide burrs over HHS(high-speed steel)?
Carbide comes with a Higher than normal heat tolerance that enables them to operate at higher speeds than similar HSS cutters, yet still maintain their cutting edges. High-speed steel(HSS) burrs will begin to soften at higher temperatures while carbide Maintains hardness even under compression and possesses Longer working life which is a better option for too long term performance as a result of higher wear resistance.

Single-Cut vs Double-Cut
Single cut Burrs are suitable for General Purpose. It’s going to give good material removal and smooth workpiece finishes.

Single cut can be used with stainless, hardened steel, copper, iron, and ferrous metals and may remove material quickly using a smooth finish. Can be used for Deburring, cleaning, milling, material removal or creating long chips

Double cut Burrs permit rapid stock removal in harder materials and tougher applications. The designs reduces pulling action, that allows better operator control, and reduces chips

Double cut burrs are utilized on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, aluminium, soft steel and for all non-metal materials including stone, plastics, hardwood, and ceramic. This cut has more cutting edges and may remove material faster.

Double-cut will leave a smoother finish than single-cut on account of producing smaller chips because they cut away the pad. Use double-cut for medium-light stock removal, deburring, fine finishing, cleaning, smooth finishes, and creating smaller chips. Double cut carbide burrs include the most widely used and benefit most applications.
