SA-1 cylinder shape burrs are great for interior contour work and deburring. As a result of extreme hardness on this tungsten carbide, it can be used on much more demanding jobs than HSS (High-Speed Steel). These carbide burrs are made from tungsten carbide burr die grinder bits and may start to soften at higher temperatures, so carbide is usually the best option for long-term performance.
Double cut or Cross cut carbide burrs are usually suited for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, soft steel, as well as for all non-metal materials such as stone, plastics, wood floor, and ceramic. Double cut burrs leaves a rather smoother finish than single cut due to producing smaller chips since they cut away the material. Use for medium stock removal, deburring, finishing, and cleaning. A double-cut carbide burr is regarded as the popular cut and will look at you through most applications.
Cut – Double Cut
Max RPM – 70,000, yet it’s uncommon to need over 35,000 RPM.
Machines Applied to:
Die Grinders and hand-held pneumatic grinders
Application:
Ferrous Materials – Certain, Steel, Stainless, Steel, Titanium, Nickel, Wrought Iron
Non-Ferrous Materials – Copper
Many other materials – Fiberglass, Plastic, Hard Rubber, Wood, Stone
Cylinder Shape burrs are great for interior contour work like peripheral and face milling.
Safety Tips & Techniques:
Tool speed will be determined with the material you are using your burr on. If you’re experiencing chipping, you’re operating at too much of speed for that application. Start having a slower speed and increase as you go along and soon you get the best results
Apply light pressure and allow the tool do the work. Bearing documented on the tool can lead to reduced tool life plus a dull burr.
Always wear proper PPE to feature (but not tied to) safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, and work gloves. Keep all guards in place on the machine.
Avoid experience electrical power drills; the slower speeds can result in chipping of the workpiece.
