Hello there! Are you new to video editing? In case you are, you’re probably confused by the vast array of video editing applications around available in the market.
After i started out in video editing, nobody offered me a proper comparison of video editing programs. And so i experimented by myself.
I tried using Microsoft Movie Maker and also other free software. With time, because i gained confidence in the editing process, I managed to move on to commercial software like Adobe Premiere and Corel VideoStudio.
In this post, I’d like to offer you a comparison from the better video editing programs out there so you can get more creative with your productions.
1. Beginner Level
Let’s start from the basics. A high level beginner and still have dirty much video editing, You need to that you commence with a free video editing package like Microsoft Movie Maker. This allows you to view the video timeline, splitting, cutting and how to add basic effects in your production.
When you’ve some basic knowledge, get a full beginner video editor like MovAVI. I prefer MovAVI a good deal nowadays to quickly edit and burn / upload my videos to YouTube.
MovAVI automates the majority of the post-production process to me. I recently import my video, go with a default theme as well as the software will the rest. This protects me a considerable amount of time, especially if I’ve a a lot of extra say, vacation videos where I’m too lazy to perform in-depth editing.
2. Intermediate Level
OK, trying the intermediate level software. These programs have basic video editing features for starters but also contain advanced functionalities for individuals who need to be more creative.
On this category, my own preference is Corel VideoStudio. I’ve used its competitor models like Adobe Premiere Elements and Pinnacle Studio before, on the other hand still get back to VideoStudio because of the rich group of templates they have and also the intuitive application interface.
Corel VideoStudio lets me do things chroma key (removing green screens from a video so we could overlay another background), add titles, transactions and manipulate audio. Also i like this I’m able to export my video in a large number of formats, including uploading them online to YouTube seamlessly. This can be the software I personally use frequently for editing selected video projects where I want a fast basic workflow but possess some room for creative work.
Advanced Level
There are far more advanced level video editing software applications like Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas and Final Cut Pro. When i do similar to their features (which are industrial-grade features utilized by film makers) – I find them overly expensive. Something such as the full Adobe Premiere suite will easily run you by almost $1000. I’m not paying a whole lot of money for any video application unless I’m achieving this full-time.
For hobbyists, I highly recommend using intermediate level software. The advanced features in pro-level packages like Adobe Premiere are generally rarely used. Once you have done many video projects and wish to go pro, then these packages make sense.
4. Online Applications
OK, up to now we’ve done comparison of desktop video editing software. But you should be aware of there’s also other movie editing applications showing up everywhere in the shop.
One that particularly caught my attention is Animoto, which is a great online application.
This can be a solid, intuitive video footage editor which lets you just upload your projects and apply a compilation of automatic edits and effects. Again, very beneficial stuff for the people requiring a simple workflow with out a lot of fuss.
